Cloudflare Goes Down - Major Outage

A major Cloudflare outage hit the internet Tuesday morning, taking down multiple global websites. According to Benzinga reporting, platforms including OpenAI’s ChatGPT, Elon Musk’s X, and even Downdetector were affected. Cloudflare says it detected a spike in “unusual traffic” around 6:20 a.m. ET and is still investigating the source. The company noted its full team is “all hands on deck” as services come back online.

Cloudflare plays a critical role in managing global web traffic and defending sites against DDoS attacks, so even minor disruptions can ripple across the internet. The outage comes just weeks after Amazon Web Services suffered a daylong incident followed by a global Microsoft Azure and 365 outage.

Cloudflare shares dropped more than 5% in premarket trading following the incident.
