When I was much younger
I had a common fear
This fear of darkness worsened
With every coming year
Until there came a birthday
When the feeling disapeared
No longer was I uneasy
When sun and horizon neared
Children would ask my secret
What changed inside my head
The truth is on that birthday
A new thought I did dread
You see when you get older
One has a common fear
One may not have a birthday
Every single year
