Description

Dump trucks shovel sand from the front yards of homes in Point Pleasant New Jersey.

Super storm Sandy moved tons of sand from the beach onto the streets of this neighbourhood.

A one mile stretch of boardwalk was uprooted... it's planks smashed into shops.

Animals at this aquarium are safe for now with generators supplying power.

Nail by nail, cleanup crews work around the clock.

Similar scenes all along the east coast have residents and business owners stalwart in their resolve to persevere.

"I think maybe it's still settling in a little bit and like I said here we are so lucky and our hearts, you know, just go out to all the people around us who have lost lives and everything. But we're strong, you know we're resilient and we will get through it."

Officials say the total cost of the damage could near 20 billion dollars.
