ROUGH CUT (NO REPORTER NARRATION)

STORY: About 500 supporters of the opposition Cambodia National Rescue Party (CNRP), clashed with Phnom Penh city hall security guards on Tuesday (July 15) as they demanded authorities re-open the Freedom Park, a former rallying point for anti-government protesters.

At least 21 people, including 17 security guards and four protesters, were injured in the confrontation.

Protesters put up a red banner, that read "Free Freedom Park" in both Khmer and English on the barbed wire, set up by authorities to seal off the park.

Clashes broke out when the city hall security guards started to pull off the banner from the barbed wire. Angry protesters waving flag poles as weapons pushed the guards back, who then fought back with batons.

Riot police arrived and fired tear gas shells to disperse the protesters.

The Freedom Park is a government-sanctioned place of protest, but it was closed following a crackdown on a garment factory
