Clashes in Bahrain protest
Description
Clashes break out between police and protesters in Bahrain.
Riot police used water cannons to disperse hundreds of protesters, who responded by throwing what appeared to be petrol bombs.
The protesters were from the February 14 Youth Coalition, a movement formed since last year's uprising, seeking to overthrow the ruling family.
Bahrain police media posted these images on their website. Reuters cannot independently verify the video.
The clashes erupted in a series of 10 protests organised by opposition parties and granted permission by authorities.
In the district of Jidhafs, on the edge of Manama, protesters march following the burial of a woman said to have died from tear gas. Reuters is unable to verify this material.
Activists say at least 33 people have died since June, with daily clashes taking place in Shi'ite districts, as the government tries to lock in protesters and prevent any build-up of mass movement in the capital.
Police maintain that they are showing restraint in the face of violence.
Some Sunni groups in Bahrain are threatened that the Shi-ite led opposition is using street violence to seize power.
