Cigar Aficionado - Sleepy Buss

Cool in a warm humid day is dawn cracks bench
mothers date eyes half closed to baby coos
oblivious to the open furnace ahead waiting
lumbers an ominous sound of splicing air our stop
a wrapper of yesterdays morning on step
reaching to change a machine eating dollars in fare
seats of worn scotch guard split arms of failed bulk
reminders today of rumors job a lunch not bought
for three days my hollow drum is taught like words bile
the sleepy song of tires bustle a calm without clouds
seeking rains sweat like baseballs relief for a catcher lost
I look in the soul river in seats filled with windblown
paper handed to the window float a memory of a parade
unrecognized yet still to play out in unknown tomorrows
meaningless without a voucher to bring me a check
gazing in the eye of one not yet met whom I must my boss.
