Description

Silent and still he sat on that silky sand of the sun kissed beach with his hair entangled in the wind’s long fingers and heart and breath in rhythm with the gentle lapping waves as they rise and fall all along the foreshore.

He closed his eyes for three long seconds and all he felt was the warm sand sifting through his toes; all he smelt was the heavy salt air as it wafted to his nose; all he heard was the peaceful bellowing of the ocean.

As the moon rose and night’s dark cloak descended, the sun fell, smoothly drawing her golden finger tips from the boy’s face and delicately kissing his tame lips until next she would rise at dawn.

When the boy next lifted his heavy eyelids the moon was high and the sand silver, the ocean calm and the night darker, and all was silent except the lapping waves upon the shore.

Once again the boy closed his eyes, five long seconds now, and this time he found his mind longed for nothing and his heart, no desire. Upon opening his eyes the boy was calm and felt safe, he had found solace.

Many minutes pasted as the boy continued to sit alone on this insignificant stretch of sand, thinking nothing, desiring nothing.

It was not to last. For the boy was due home some time ago. Up he got and back along the smooth beach walking in the cool darkness homeward bound. Back to harsh lights and blaring noise. Grey life to be resumed.
