Chip pan fire demonstration TWFRS

Tyne and Wear Fire and Rescue Service demonstrate the danger of adding water to a chip pan fire with their chip pan demo unit that is used at open days and community events.

Their advice with chip pans:


· Temperature controlled deep fat fryers are much safer – so are oven chips and takeaways!

· Never fill a pan more than one third full of oil.

· Never throw water on an oil fire – close the door on it, get out, stay out and call 999.

· Keep your pan and hob clean.
