Chinese detention centre caught on camera

Despite the shackles this inmate managed to escape from his cell in a detention centre in China's Yanshou country.

He and two other men sneaked out into a hallway.

Here security camera footage captures the moment when the three inmates overcome a guard... he appeared to be killed in the attack.

One of the three was on death row. The other two were awaiting verdicts on charges of intentional injury and homicide.

More than 1,000 armed police officers joined the search for the escapees.

Two of them have been recaptured but one is still at large.

The escape has raised questions about how the men managed to get out so easily.

In China, suspects charged with serious crimes are supposed to be permanently handcuffed and monitored around the clock.
