China's Regime Demands US Return Documents

The former vice mayor of Chongqing, Wang Lijun, currently at the center of a Chinese Communist Party power struggle, allegedly handed sensitive documents to the US consulate in Chengdu on February 6th. Now the Chinese regime is demanding these documents back. If the US does hold these documents, it may play a role in determining the future of the regime, as it prepares to undergo a shuffle of power.
The recently demoted former vice-mayor and police chief of Chongqing City, Wang Lijun, entered the US consulate in Chengdu on February 6th. It's thought that Wang tried to apply for asylum and handed over internal Chinese Communist Party documents. These documents may have revealed the crimes of his boss Bo Xilai in their so-called "Beat the Black" anti-crime campaign, or even organ harvesting in connection with the persecution of Falun Gong, in which Bo was involved.
Journalist Bill Gertz has written several articles about Wang Lijun's case for the Washington Free Beacon. According to a US official whom Gertz interviewed, the Chinese regime is now demanding the US to return the documents. Gertz says the incident clearly shows evidence of a power struggle within the CCP.

"It's definitely an indicator that there's a type of a power struggle on the way, I don't think we have a really clear picture of that."
A former professor at Shandong University, Sun Wenguang, says the documents Wang allegedly handed to the US consulate could play a role in this struggle.
