China in deep water

Short-term rainstorm flooded the urban area of Taiyuan, capital of north China’s Shanxi Province with accumulated water reaching the knee-deep.

Local meteorological department issued a yellow alert of rainstorm. Some manhole covers on road were tilted up due to the rapid flow. And several vehicle licenses were spotted by sanitation workers in the water.

The extreme weather would continue to hit the middle and southern parts of the province, said local meteorological department.
