68 Views • Mar 21, 2016
Description
The Chile Darwin's frog is an endangered species, mainly because of a skin fungus. Scientists in Concepción are trying to save the small amphibian by breeding healthy animals and sending them to Europe.Veterinarian Carlos Barrientos Donoso has a mission: he wants to save Darwin's frog from extinction. It's threatened by the chytrid skin fungus, which afflicts a third of all amphibians worldwide. The rare Chile Darwin's frog has been especially hard hit. So Barrientos Donoso collects healthy animals and increases their stocks at a breeding station in Concepción.
