Chicken Reel ~ Inside out Record.

Chicken Reel, an inside to out playing disc. Just in time for Freaky Fridays, this one sided, four hole, heavy and thick 78 disc was also found in the collection of pioneer banker Gustav Groos of San Antonio. Thanks to Mike W for trusting me with this rare disc to film and transcribe. Yes, it really does play from inside to out and if anyone can tell me what this oddity is, I would be most appreciative. There were a number of these discs in the Groos collection and all were exactly two minutes in length. Nothing is known about the date, place, or musicians who recorded this, but they all had a similar talent of recording their music in 120 seconds, no more, no less. I had originally thought this was made between 1911 and 1918 but the sound is so clear it must have been a microphone recording, meaning 1926 to 1929 when the collecting was ended by Mr. Groos.
