Chi - Night Rain

The rain makes itself welcome
falling all day
from the sky to earth
in a timeless song.

Nightfall makes no difference.

The drops aren't afraid
of their journey through the dark empty heights.
Neither are they afraid
of the unseen destination.

At home, at the edge of the woods,
all I hear at night
are thousands of raindrops,
that patter on the maple leaves,
drowning the sweet voices of the spring pipers
