No more
I count the days
no more do I
expect your voice
at the other end
whenever the
phone tinkles,
I do not
look over
my shoulders
in the busy malls
looking for
your face
in each face
I pass by
or which follows
me;

neither do I
track the
resonance
of your voice
in the voices
I hear knowingly
unknowingly;
neither in TV
nor in newspapers
I devour the
clippings that
touch you even
remotely,
for instance
I do not
note New York
temperature
nor do I
glare at the
Concorde advertisement
the city
you once
flew to,
the airlines
that took you
there;

each day
I drift
away
consciously
unlearning,
what I unconsciously
learnt once;

stomping the
left over flickers
of a fizzling flame,
floating
in an open sea
like a log
……ejected,
from a broken ship
