Cheryl Cheng - I Am

I am the ambidextrous philosopher
I wonder how the world goes round
I hear the chatter of life passing by
I see my friends and family side by side
I want to join them, but I'm lodged in the past
I am the ambidextrous philosopher

I pretend I'm with them right there and then
I feel one day I’ll achieve my goal
I touch others' surfaces, but not their souls
I worry about the opinions of others
I cry because I will always be one step behind
I am the ambidextrous philosopher

I understand that I am different from others
I say I'm fine when I'm actually not
I dream about figures that are just beyond my reach
I try to be perfect; to please everybody
I hope that someday I will learn to be me
I am a the ambidextrous philosopher

But....

This is me.
I know that.

I accept that.
