Cher comic book popular with fans

Legendary artist Cher is the star of a new comic book.

And fans are flocking to stores to snag the few copies that remain.

The comic chronicles the superstar's life, including her marriage to late record producer Sonny Bono, her daughter's sex-change from Chastity to Chaz, and various career milestones.

Thor Parker of Midtown Comics in New York says copies are flying off the shelves.

(SOUNDBITE) Thor Parker, marketing director, Midtown Comics, saying (English):

"A lot of people that aren't normally comic book readers hear about these kind of books and they get really excited, they're big fans of Cher or whoever the book would be about, and they go out and they buy several copies, a lot for the collectability aspect of it, I think."

Born Cherilyn Sarkisian, she is a multi-award winning artist, having collected an Academy Award, Grammy and three Golden Globes.

The "Female Force" series by Bluewater Productions have also published the comic books of Madonna, Britney Spears, Sarah Palin and more.
