The word touge (pronounced «toe-gay») is the Japanese word for mountain road. You drive anywhere through the mountains in Japan, you are on a touge. However, in the U.S., the word touge is often associated with the drift culture that is so popular these days. Thanks to shows like Initial D, young car fans imagine that only hachi-rokus and Silvias traverse Japan’s winding, narrow mountain roads. We’ve read message upon message from people in the boondocks of the U.S. asking where the local touge is so that they can practice sliding their rides. ..
