Charles Darkly - Clementine

As soon as you get comfortable,
I'll do things differently.
How can I let you get close
when I don't know myself?
As soon as you begin to praise me,
I'll make sure the next thing is
something you'll despise.
I have to keep knocking myself down
before someone else does.
I hope you hate this poem too
I wrote it that way.
