Charles Chaim Wax - I Awoke

at 3: 45 in the morning
full moon
shining through
my window
began scribbling
at once
the majestic sphere
demanding a response
ten minutes later
no go
mush
put up tea
words still swirling
without a proper place
when the flame
somehow
ignited my shirt
searing skin.
and although
I quickly put it out
a moment later
the terror
of burning to death
so ripped off the material
throwing it in the garbage.
The magic marker
in my hand
writing on the kitchen wall:
Forget the moon
Watch the flame.
