Shattered Haven takes the now-standard format of "zombie game" and uses it as the base upon which to tell a story about what happens when they get your mom. And what happens when that makes you run off into a forest full of shamblers, walkers, zeds, whatever you wanna call them. And what happens when you get lost, and your companions' parents (now driven from their compound by a zombie infestation) - have to engage in small zombie-clearing missions in order to satisfy a downright Lovecraftian menace that stands between them and the kids.
