CCTV footage shows attempted factory arson
Description
EDIT CONTAINS 4:3 MATERIAL
As investigations continue into a string of fires at clothing factories in Bangladesh... video has emerged that may help authorities.
Closed circuit video from a clothes factory near the capital Dhaka shows a woman in a pink head scarf in the upper left part of the screen.
She disappears for a moment under a table of clothing, then walks away.
Minutes later, smoke begins billowing from under the pile of clothes.
Employees, including the same woman in the pink head scarf, run in and try to put out the spreading fire.
Later, she and another employee were taken into police custody for questioning.
Three other incidents since Saturday, including the country's most deadly factory fire in which more than 100 people died, have authorities investigating the possibility of arson.
Days of protests by factory workers have highlighted notoriously poor working conditions within Bangladesh's garment industry where workers earn as little as $37 a month.
