CATCHING UP WITH CARSON CARR

Description
As we reach near the end of 2017 we find that each rider has a plan set in their head for the upcoming season of racing. Carson Carr, TWMXRS racer, slowly reaches the end of his amateur racing as he begins to plan for his professional career in the months to come. We had the chance to catch up with Carson and discuss his plans for the new year.
While filming, you mentioned that you messed up your ankle a-bit. What exactly happened?
The day before we went and filmed at Cahuilla, I was riding with my trainer BJ burns at Perris and tweaked my ankle during our last moto of the day. I hit a slick spot on the face of a table and thought I was going down after scrubbing the jump, so naturally I put my left leg out which ended up saving me from crashing. However, I landed with my leg out and ran over my left foot with my back wheel. It caused a lot of pain in my left ankle, where I already have some hardware in, but I had already made a commitment to film with you the next day so I taped it up and told myself not to be a wussy (laughs).
Motocross has been pretty rough on you with injuries, what keeps you racing?
Yeah, moto always has its way of putting me back down with injuries and such, but it’s bound to happen sometime. Motocross is something I really enjoy and always have. If I can make a full recovery from an injury I’ll come back from it!
What are your plans for the upcoming year?
My plans for the new season are to race the 2018 arenacross series in Winter, to obtain my AMA Supercross license, and then race a few of the closer outdoor rounds. Hopefully I am able to race Hangtown, Glen Helen, and Washougal. Maybe I'll even race some more rounds, but that's the plan as-of now and we will see what’s next from there.
Currently, you are training with BJ Burns and seem to have a solid group of dudes surrounding you...
Training with BJ burns at MX University is awesome! I am able to ride with some bad ass dudes like Ryan Surratt and Brad Lionette, which helps build my speed and consistency.
What is one of the fondest memories you have while racing motocross?
One of the best memories I have of racing would most likely be winning a championship at Dodge. It was my first race in B-class on my 125 and I loved that bike. Everything went right that day and I hope to have more days like that in the future.
Unfortunately, soon after filming together you suffered an injury. What exactly did you do and how did it happen?
Yeah, during my second day on Supercross I had a pretty hard crash. I was feeling pretty good and flowing until my bike shut off while leaving the face of a jump. At least that is what I was told, I ended up hitting my head pretty hard so I don't have much memory of the crash. From what I've gathered, my front tire clipped the landing, so I tried to bail and jump off of the bike but my legs got caught in the bars, and well... I didn't quite get away smoothly. I ended up straining a lot of muscles in my calf and ankle, along with having some slight tears in those muscles.
How long will that crash sit you out of racing?
The crash resulted in taking about a month and a-half off of riding. However, recently I've been using a machine at Dr. Toys office everyday that has me feeling amazing for being a month and a-half out. I'll be racing the Arizona amateur open this weekend for my first race back, where I will receive my last point towards my outdoor license for 2018. I should be back on track for 2018 after this weekend.
Who would you like to thank?
I’d like to thank my parents first off, without them I would’ve never put my leg over a dirt bike. I’d also like to thank BJ for all the help he has given me over the years, whether it’s bike work or training, that guy does it all! Also Nate Adams at Deft Family for always sticking behind me. Split designs co, Vexea, vonzipper, Guy Trotter at Surface Sun Systems, North County Yamaha, ODI, RK Excel, and Doug At Dubach Racing and Development.
