A Cat Exercise Wheel Has Raised a Quarter of a Million Dollars On Kickstarter
A lot of indoor cat owners must be feeling guilty about depriving their kitties of exercise, because a Kickstarter campaign raising funds for a cat exercise wheel has raised over $250,000.

One Fast Cat is a product that lets cats run on a stationary wheel. Creator Sean Farley based the concept of the cat wheel on his theory that being kept indoors suppresses a cats' natural desire to run and hunt. One Fast Cat is designed to help cats meet at least part of that need by expending energy.

"In nature cats would use their energy to hunt. That hunting requires short bursts of energy, then they'd spend the rest of the time sleeping and grooming so they'll be ready for the next hunt," a statement on the product's website read. "Without the need to hunt prey they need other outlets for that pent-up energy. It’s good for cats to get some sort of workout and changing it up to keep them interested is important."

One Fast Cat is selling online for $199 including shipping. It comes in four colors — pink, green, blue and black — and is made of plastic. The actual running surface is made from closed cell foam, which keeps claws from getting stuck in the device while the cat is moving.

The four feet wide device's Kickstarter campaign has raised nearly $260,000 to date, surpassing its original goal of $10,000 by a long shot. The campaign will close in three days.
