This year promises to be a busy one for the alternative London-based singer-songwriter, Cat Couture. A independent multidisciplinary artist and Ambassador for The Be Real Campaign (founded by Dove).

Spending her formative years growing up in conservative Switzerland, yet enjoying a multicultural heritage (Trinidad & Tobago, The United Kingdom and France), Cat Couture was exposed to a diverse range of musical influences from Portishead and Massive Attack to classical composers. This was not limited to Rachmaninoff and Fauré; together with vocalists such as Jeff Buckley, Julie London and Norah Jones. Her candid songwriting style was heavily influenced by lyricists who do not sugarcoat their words, such as Amy Winehouse and Lily Allen.

From a young age, Cat Couture started writing poetry, music, theatre scripts and spent much of her school breaks either in the art or dance studio. Feeling somewhat of an outsider, Cat Couture learned from early on to live life on her own terms, which is strongly represented in her music.

Signed to Sony Music Switzerland in 2015, Cat Couture released her first pop song “Bitching”, which was well received by Swiss radio, TV and media. One of her most enjoyable highlights was opening the NRJ Fashion Night in Zurich in front of a 7,000+ audience. Cat Couture felt her artistic future pointed in another direction so Sony Music Switzerland and herself agreed to part ways in early 2017.

Cat Couture started working with London-based producer Stevie Solomon, where she focused on developing and exploring her new sound and ultimately reconnected with her creative roots, releasing on 8th December 2017 her own rendition of Jack Garratt’s “The Love You’re Given”. In its first week, the cover video attracted a combined total of 11,000 online views. This reintroduced Cat Couture to the world in anticipation of her debut single which was released in February 2018.
