Carragher praises classy Capello

Jamie Carragher believes Fabio Capello's proven track record gives England genuine hope of achieving World Cup glory this summer.

The Liverpool defender has returned to the international fold after a self-imposed three-year absence and was used as a second-half substitute against Mexico at Wembley on Monday.

Carragher has played under a host of different managers for club and country during his distinguished career.

But he knows that ultimately whether they are good, bad or indifferent will be decided by results - and he feels Capello's record should give cause for optimism in South Africa.

Carragher said: "Every manager has their own way of winning things, different England managers have their own ways, but the reason they become England manager is because they are very good managers.

"It is not that one way is right or one way is wrong - but this manager has his own style and it has proved successful over the years which is encouraging (for the World Cup)."
