Carol Bogart - Spring Again

Silvery strands of billowing lace
Bedecking a tree’s barren branches,
Beckoning all winter-weary souls on
In witness of Spring’s yearly promise. The maple, festooned liked a blossoming bride,
A magnet for migrating travelers.
The goldfinch waits patiently, wanting the hole,
Safe harbor for nesting and birdlets. At pondside, a bullfrog leaps in with a yelp,
As ducks go by looking for rushes,
Therein to lay eggs or to quack with alarm
If marauders take duck eggs for breakfast. Raccoon and water snakes, groundhog and toads,
Again staking claims in the forest.
Wintertime dens now awake and alive
With kits, cubs, snakes, turtles and toadlets. The rebirth of Spring, life starting anew,
Mirrored so strongly in nature,
With hope, once again, of renewal of soul,
And shadings of life Everlasting.
