Carla Kitts - I Don't Understand

I don't understand
Why you lift your voice or raise your hand
I'm trying to please you
With the things I do
But nothing I do seems to be good enough for you
I sometimes cry at night, it's true
Because I know it would hurt you to see me cry
But then again you seem to be blind to how hard I try
You say that I'm not trying hard enough to be part of our family
That my very best is just done crumily
I don't mean to disapoint you
I don't mean to make you sad by the things I do
When all I want is to make you smile
For you to say you're proud of me every once in awhile
But I guess my best isn't enough
Guess I'm going to have to try different stuff
Try to do diferent things
Try to stretch my unused wings
Someday I want to make you proud
And to not do things that will cause you to yell at me so loud
