About Marijke Schreurs’s house : The artworks, installed as they are - placed and spaced - in every nook and cranny of the house, take on a different meaning, another alternately than they would in a museum or in a conventional gallery. Wandering about in Marijke Schreurs’s House allows us to breathe in, to exprerience the works in an entirely different manner. Indeed, the works place the visitor in a novel perceptual situation. The artists are invited to take over the House, wich is not only a lived place, but also a locus for exchanges. It becomes the abode of artists then of visitors, for a given space of time. It allows for a new, more pertinent perception of works, one that is closer to what can and should be expected of contemporary art, of an art which strives to open itself to the world. Exhibitions, evening meetings, exchanges, conversations, art dinners, encounters, talking about and around contemporary art.
