The Mysterons kill and reconstruct Major Reed (an old friend of Colonel White) and use him to launch a nuclear rocket which has the ability to overcome all type of defences from its target from Base Concord. He then steals the programming unit with the self-destruct code on it and leaves the base to stop the personnel of Base Concord find the rocket’s self-destruct code and its target.
