Why do I feel so anguished?
Why do I feel so sore?
Why can’t we be happy,
Like we were before?

Why do I feel so broken?
Why do I feel so raw?
Why can’t we begin to laugh again,
Like we did before?

Why do I feel so fragile?
Why won’t it go away?
Why can’t we be close again,
Like when we used to pray?

Why do I feel so tormented?
Why can ‘t I breathe today?
Why can’t I just let it go,
Like when we talked that day?

Why do I feel such sorrow?
Why do I feel such pain?
Why can’t we just live and let live,
And trust in God again?
