California’s GDP Grows
Description
California’s gross domestic product is rising to a level that could surpass Germany’s and overtake it as the 4th largest in the world after the U.S., China, and Japan. Current figures won’t be released until 2023, but estimates suggest the state is ahead by $72 billion and has already outpaced Germany. Last year, the margin between Germany and California was already narrowing with Germany’s at $4.2 trillion and California's at $3.3 trillion. California’s market capitalization gives it a strong advantage. In the past three years, California’s market capitalization rose 147 percent and 117 percent, compared to Germany’s gains by 41 percent and 34 percent.
