Description

http://www.nma.tv/ A new California law makes it illegal to impersonate someone online with the intent to cause harm. The law is aimed at curbing cases of cyber-harassment, which rose sharply in 2010. Previously, most impersonation attacks went unpunished. Under the new law, those guilty of malicious online impersonation face up to a $1,000 fine and a year in jail. Internet free-speech advocates, however, have expressed concerns that the law could also be used to prosecute those who impersonate someone for political satire or parodies.
