Cairo demonstrators rally against army rule
Description
A mass rally in Cairo's Tahrir Square as demonstrators call for an end to army rule.
Many are angry at the army's handling of recent protests, which killed 17 people and drew international criticism last week.
They want the ruling military council to cede power more swiftly than planned.
Anger has been fuelled by images of protesters being clubbed by soldiers and dragged and stamped on.
The Muslim Brotherhood's popular Freedom and Justice Party however declined to join the protest.
(SOUNDBITE) (Arabic) FEMALE PROTESTER SAMAH IBRAHIM SAYING:
"I'm a woman and I'm here to protest and I'm not afraid to be shot dead. Where are all of those people who won the election, where they are now? They were seeking seats only, where is the Freedom and Justice Party? Where is the al-Nour Party? I would like to say that all of those people won their seats because of the blood of the martyrs."
The army says it regrets the violence and has offered an apology for an incident where a woman was dragged by soldiers with her bra and torso exposed and then beaten.
