It is easy to spot cable cars in popular mountains of Korea. They are very convenient, especially for elderly or disabled people, to get to the top. It has been reported that Seoul's Namsan Mountain has become a popular tourist attraction ever since cable cars were installed in 1962, and its profit is worth hundreds of millions of dollars each year. However, Ulsan citizens have mixed feelings about installing cable cars at Sinbulsan Mountain. Through a press interview, Citizens Committee for Promotion of Cable Car Installations stated that installing Sinbulsan Mountain cable cars will build tourism infrastructure, encourage growth of new businesses, and cultivate ways to make profit. However, Committee Against Sinbulsan Mountain Cable Car Installations argued that installing cable cars will destroy the natural environment and running cable cars could lead to deficit. Will cable cars improve regional economy or will they destroy natural environment?
