C Richard Miles - Unexploded Bomb
5 Views • Nov 08, 2014
Description
When it was dropped
In the distant days of World War Two,
That blustering bomb,
That wartime harbinger of hate
Would stay silent, waiting there?
Did they know
When it was dropped
In the faraway future unforeseen,
That hibernating bomb,
That timeless deliverer of death
Would still menace, waiting there?
Did they know
When it was dropped
In the aftermath of afteryears,
The rediscovered bomb,
That ticking threatener of calm
Would awaken, waiting there?
Did they know
When it was stopped
In the thankfulness of today,
The inactivated bomb,
That silent survivor of strife
Would sleep at last, waiting there?
