Button and Hamilton expect improvement

McLaren teammates Jenson Button and Lewis Hamilton are focused on an improved performance at this weekend's Australian Grand Prix following the Ferrari one-two at Formula One's season-opener in Bahrain.

Reigning champion Button returns to the Melbourne circuit where he claimed his first win on the way to the world title last year.

The 30-year-old secured eighth on the grid on his McLaren debut at the Bahrain Grand Prix earlier this month but then managed to make up just one place during the race as he struggled to find a way past the Mercedes of veteran Michael Schumacher..

"We learned that qualifying is very important and we did not get it right and that is an area we have obviously been talking about over the last few days." said Button.

"We come here I think very well prepared." added the British driver.

Team-mate and former world champion Lewis Hamilton believes his third-place finish in Bahrain has given him the impetus to perform even better at this weekend's race, "I feel confident, I have a great strong team behind me and Jenson goes well here in Australia. So I'm confident we can go better.

"We will be looking at winning rather than coming third. Bit by bit we will look at improving and growing with the car. We've learned a lot from the first race and we can bring that here to Melbourne."
