Bush 43 returns to Washington

"It is an honor to be with you. I note, that this is called the first spouses event. Not the first lady's event. Because there are a few men in the audience whose wives are more famous and popular than they are. I am one of them."

Former President George W. Bush returns to Washington, DC.

It was a rare public appearance -- joining the U.S.-Africa Leaders Summit.

Although Bush left the international stage unpopular in many parts of the world, he maintains an exalted status in Africa thanks to the programs he started while in office.

His address focused on issues close to his heart -- Africa and women's health.
