ISLAMABAD: Expressing extreme displeasure over non-submission of response, the three-judge bench of Supreme Court on Thursday decided to indict State Minister Talal Chaudhry in the contempt of court case, ARY News reported.

The bench, headed by Justice Ejaz Afzal Khan, heard the case filed against the incumbent minister.

The court has given the minister a show-cause notice to explain why he may not be proceeded against for committing contempt of court by making contemptuous and derogatory speeches, maligning the judiciary.

During the court proceedings today, Chaudhry’s lawyer Kamran Murtaza complained that the CDs, having the recorded segments of inflammatory speeches, were provided much later.

He pleaded with the bench for more time to submit a reply.

The bench then ruled that the charges against the PML-N leader would be framed at the next hearing on March 14 and summoned Chaudhry to appear before the court in person.
