KARACHI: The city is expected to experience a five-day heat wave from today (Saturday) as the temperature is likely to reach 44 degrees centigrade, weather experts warned.
According to the spokesperson of the Pakistan Meteorological department –Abdul Rashid – the sea breeze along the coastline of Pakistan would be reduced due to low pressure in the Arabian Sea off the Indian coast.

Onshore breeze that keeps temperature in Karachi mild.
“The onshore breeze usually keeps the temperature mild, [however] as result of any change in [sea breeze] direction will consequence in a rise in mercury,” the weather expert said.
The maximum temperature in the month of October in Karachi has been recorded 36 degrees centigrade, according to MET department records. However, this would be first time in last 30 years that the city temperature will push the mercury between 38 to 40 degrees for next five to six days.
“There will be a moderate heat wave condition in the city during this period,” Rashid informed media.
Assuring his department will keep the public notifying about the weather developments, the weather expert said the daytime temperature in the metropolis may cross 40°Celsius on Tuesday and Wednesday.
