ISLAMABAD: Imran Khan has announced legal action against Chairman National Accountability Bureau (NAB) after the Panama case verdict of the Supreme Court.
Chairman Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) was talking to media outside the Supreme Court premises on Monday.
Imran Khan termed the decision of the five-member larger bench of the apex court “historic”.
He said the nation is grateful of the court, which has invited attention of the state and people towards the failure of the state institutions.
The PTI chairman announced to file a reference against the NAB chairman.
Imran Khan was talking to media after attending a suo motu hearing of Supreme Court on environmental degradation in Banni Gala.
Responding to questions raised by media persons, Khan said that national institutions have been badly affected due to bad governance and corruption except the apex court. He said it was apparent in Panamagate verdict that the top court was not convinced with the evidences and formed a joint investigation committee comprising members from several state institutions.
He apprised the media that he acknowledges the Supreme Court’s verdict in Panama case and has no plans to seek judicial review. He also announced to file a reference against National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Chairman.
Khan said that the PML-N workers distributing sweets over exposure of corruption of their leader Nawaz Sharif.
Talking on environmental degradation in Banni Gala, Imran Khan said that the land grabbers mafia cutting trees and making area a concrete jungle.
PTI chief said that continuous large-scale encroachments and haphazard construction of multi-storied buildings in Bani Gala have badly impacted botanical parks and the physical environment.
The top court had taken a notice of municipal by-laws violation in Bani Gala and sought a report from Capital Development Authority (CDA).
“Unplanned construction work in the area has escalated deforestation which persistently deteriorating the environment in absence of appropriate waste disposal system”, Imran Khan said while talking to media persons.
He said that there is no sewage treatment plant and the disposal of waste in lake would have the long-term degenerative effects on the environment, health, and welfare of future generations.
“Pakistan ranks 7th among the countries worst affected by global warming and deforestation”, he added while calling for laws ensuring environmental protection.
Moreover, he said that encroachments on a large chunks of land allocated for the parks have turned the area into a concrete jungle.
