ISLAMABAD: Following the court orders of releasing Justice Baqar Najafi’s Commission Report into killings of Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) workers in Lahore’s Model Town, State Minister for Interior Affairs Talal Chaudhry on Friday said that there is no legal value of the commission report.
He was talking to journalists when he asserted that the commission report compiled to score political points.
“In aftermath of the commission report, an FIR and a trial can be filed [which have] already happened,” Chaudhry added.
Raising his concern over demand of releasing the report and making it public, he called for making all the commission reports public, which have not been disclosed by the state.
“Why only one commission report should be made public,” he queried.
He said Sharif family and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) are being targeted under an ill-designed conspiracy.
Claiming the ruling party of setting a new precedent by undertaking countrywide development projects, Chaudhry said that reopening of Hudaibiya Paper Mills and Model Town cases were anticipated as result of ongoing projects.
Without naming any party and institution, he further said the opponents should restrain from targeting genuine political leadership through unlawful means, adding it would not be in the best interests of the country.
“CPEC is in danger for unstable political situation in the country,” he concluded.
