A New Consciousness
Never thought like this before, my compassion so explicit
Never felt like this before, it’s impossible to miss it
Can’t stand the fact, I know exactly what to do
The only thing holding me back is my inability to forget you
My bitter sweet regrets come back to haunt me once more
I can hear, taste, feel retribution at the door
And this devious maze I hate to call my heart
Is harboring a terrified spirit, not sure where it ends let alone where to start.
Thus this spirit cannot break away from the habit of rationality
But dodging the truth is a convenient mentality
Hate to be alone, for these revulsions will never end
Do you think its true; each broken heart will eventually mend?
Thoughts of the person I could be, leaves me in throes of despair
I’m on the wrong track, and I’m completely aware
As I rebuke the boiled blood that painted roses red
I listen closely for the words that will never be said
