Brianna Wilshusen - A Tree

Description
So loving and kind
Help it to survive,
This cold winter drift.
I'm so cold and lonely,
In this clearing from home.
In the middle of nothing,
Away from my dear brethren.
The winter's upcoming chill,
No others to help warm me.
Why did the humans have to come,
To the home that created me.
They cut away my family,
Leaving me here to rot cold.
'Chop them away boys! '
He did so command.
'Leave none but this here,
This one is my prize.'
Never again will I see my friends,
The ones human kind stole from my heart.
Why will they not take me too?
Is it the faries I hold?
I protect them now as children,
They are my very last hope in life.
I tell them to run and be free,
But they heed not of my warnings.
They need me to survive,
There are no more like me.
Without them I would die,
And they all know this truth.
