Description
The Kenyatta National Hospital said the doctor, two nurses and an anaesthetist have all been suspended pending an investigation. The CEO of the hospital was also suspended, the Guardian reported.
Apparently, two men had been taken to the hospital last Sunday. One needed surgery to remove a blot clot in his brain, while the other needed some meds for head inflammation.
It wasn't until hours into the surgery when doctors found no blood clot, and realized they cracked open the wrong head.
In a statement to the public the hospital said it, "deeply regrets this event and has done all it can to ensure the safety and well-being of the patient in question."
Kenyatta National Hospital is the country's largest and oldest hospital, which also serves as a teaching hospital.
