Bolivia: “We Reject Irresponsible Multinational Corporations”

Working Group #4 of the People’s Climate Change Conference dealt with The Rights of Mother Nature, condemning irresponsible mining and oil extraction in many parts of Latin America. They cited the example of the Canadian company Barrick Gold, which spilled cyanide in Argentina’s San Juan province, causing irreparable damage to Mother Nature and the death of the people living there. They also demanded justice for the oil disaster caused by Texaco and Chevron in the Amazon region of Ecuador and for mercury spills caused by the Yanacocha company in the Cajamarca highlands of Peru. teleSUR
