Description

Climate change had had a catastrophic effect on Bolivia's Lake Poopo, the country's second largest lake, which is now completely dry. Local communities and the fishing industry have been devastated and the salt-water lake's wildlife has been wiped out. To save what was once a 2,400 sq. km. lake, a US$150 million investment will be necessary. Authorities have declared the lake and surrounding region a disaster area and are aiding local residents. Dimitri O'Donnell reports on the scene. teleSUR
