Boeing’s Quality Exec Retires Amid Ongoing 737 MAX Quality Issues
Description
Boeing's head of quality for commercial airplanes, Elizabeth Lund, will retire in December after a 33-year career with the company. Lund was appointed in February to lead Boeing's quality improvements after a 737 MAX 9 incident with Alaska Airlines. She has faced scrutiny for her actions during the National Transportation Safety Board's investigation. Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) chief Mike Whitaker paused Boeing’s 737 MAX production expansion earlier this year, citing quality concerns. Boeing has since implemented a quality improvement plan and is awaiting FAA approval to boost production.
