I am trapped!
In the present
In a present I have made for myself
Behind lies regret
I cannot go back to change the past
Nor would I want to
For I would simply make the same mistakes again
Or perhaps new mistakes that would make my present worse
As for the future
I can't fast forward to a better world
A better world can only be made in the present
My here and now suggests a dark future
Perhaps I should skip all the way forward to the end of days
Then only an uncertain afterlife awaits
Charlatans pretend to understand what lies beyond
But they can't possibly know
So
Until the end
I'll make my way
In the present
As best I can!
