What is there to do?
Can’t help what goes on
in the early morning hours.
Been spending my Friday nights
doing my laundry or going
to a good friend’s home for dinner and poker.
Not much else to do other than that.
And it seems, that no matter what I do,
or how tired I am or how late it is
when I finally do get home,
Saturday morning comes along.
Law of nature tells me to sleep late,
but there I am, wide awake,
in the bathroom or walking the house
somewhere between 5: 30 and 6: 00 a.m..
So, as quietly as possible
I make myself a large pot of coffee
and turn on the TV set.
It’s amazing how very little
is on the tube at that time.
Saturday morning kiddie shows
aren’t what they used to be.
I used to look forward to them.
Each new season I’d find a few that I’d like,
and of course they were the ones
that got canceled or the time slot was changed
to a time when I couldn’t watch them.
So, what is there to do?
Pray that next season
they have some shows that make me
actually look forward to watching
and be glad that I get up at that time to watch.
